About Ukriniurkoleguia

The Ukrainian Bar Association for Foreign Affairs is one of the oldest and most renowned legal institutions in Ukraine, established on the foundation of the Ukrainian Representative Office of the former Iniurkolleguia of the USSR, which functioned since 1937.

Today, Ukriniurkoleguia is comprised of professionals specialising in various branches of national, foreign, and international private and public law. It has within its ranks barristers, attorneys, economists and linguists of international qualification who have extensive experience in cases made complex by a foreign element. Ukriniurkoleguia has an established system of representative offices in Ukraine and a world-wide network of overseas partners.

Ukriniurkoleguia represents the foreign interests of thousands of Ukrainian citizens, as well as numerous Ukrainian private and state-owned companies and enterprises - primarily in Western Europe, the Middle East, U.S., Canada, South America and Australia.

In Ukraine, Ukriniurkoleguia provides legal services to foreign embassies, Ukrainian and foreign businesses, investors, banking institutions, commercial companies, representing the interests of foreign citizens. The lawyers of Ukriniurkoleguia have the privilege of being the designated as the authorised attorneys for many foreign embassies in Ukraine.

In questions related to providing legal assistance to individuals and legal entities, Ukriniurkoleguia works in close cooperation with many branches of the Ukrainian Government such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of the Interior, the National Bank of Ukraine, their departments and local administrations.

Ukriniurkoleguia implements important social and legal projects at national and international levels. Between 1998 and 2002, Ukriniurkoleguia acted as alegal counsel to 600,000 Ukrainian WWII forced labor camp prisoners in the matter of payment of compensations by the Federative Republic of Germany and the Republic of Austria. Today, Ukriniurkoleguia is actively working on another issue of national importance, namely, the protection of the rights of millions of Ukrainian migrant workers abroad, especially in the countries of Western Europe.

The structure of Ukriniurkoleguia includes specialised departments, such as the Probate Law Department (including Sections for Germany, Austria and Switzerland; France and Great Britain; USA; Canada; Australia and New Zealand), the Family Law Department, the Business Department; the Department of Civil Law and Legal Support to Citizens, the Probate Research and Tracing Services.

Today, Ukriniurkoleguia maintains General offices in Kyiv, Lviv and Uzhhorod; Representative offices of Ukriniurkoleguia in Donetsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lutsk, Ternopil and Chernivtsi and Agencies in Vinnitsa, Zhitomir, Zaporizhya, Kirovograd, Sumy, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, as well as over 200 associate offices worldwide.

In order to increase effectiveness and coverage, Ukriniurkoleguia is looking forward to expand its network of regional offices in Ukraine and to build partnerships with correspondents abroad.
